Dragon's Loyalty Award

6:38 AM Gemma Fitz 6 Comments

Hey peeps! I've been tagged for the Dragon's Loyalty Award by the lovely Gabrielle Massman so that's what we'll be doing today. (And yes, for those of you that didn't know, I am totally a dragon.)

The rules are:
  • Announce your win with a post, and link to whomever presented your award.
  • Post 7 interesting things about yourself.
  • Present 15 awards to deserving bloggers.
  • Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post.
  • Display the award certificate on your website.
But being a self-respecting dragon, am I bound by paltry human rules? Of course not!! I shall do as I please.

Let's get started.

  1. I'm an extrovert, but I am very shy and insecure. I freeze up every time I have to talk to someone I don't know very well and I've never understood the need for the telephone. I tend to feel lonely in big crowds when no one is talking to me, but I am energized by talking to my friends and going to parties, as long as I know the people there. Seven days without talking to anyone outside my family and online friends is legitimate torture.
  2. I have horrible hand-eye coordination, especially where sports are involved. Anything which involves throwing something I suck at (and hate), including volleyball, dodge ball, frisbee, water balloons, etc. But in spite of the fact that I can't throw or catch to save my life, I actually can kick a ball, and I adore soccer.
  3. I like reading, but I'm insanely picky about what books I like, so I've actually only ever given one book five stars in my entire life, and I get really depressed when I try to read a lot, because I just end up hating everything I read. Ah, the troubles of a picky bookworm.
  4. I think better when I'm singing. I sing while I do math, write novels, or bake cookies. I make it a point to memorize the lyrics of every song I add to my iTunes, so that the next time that song comes on while I'm thinking, I can sing along without having to look up the lyrics. Often times, I memorize the lyrics before I even memorize the tune, and it drives my sisters crazy when I sing a song with all the right words but the melody all screwy. (In return, I get really upset at them when they sing "and" instead of "but" in a song I've memorized.)
  5. I defy all genre conventions in both books and music. I read thrillers, contemporary, classics, sci-fi, romance, mystery, and even a bit of fantasy and historical. It's not the genre that makes me like the book/song, it's the book/song that makes me like the genre.
  6. I hate arithmetic, but I actually enjoy algebra and geometry. I honestly have no idea why.
  7. My friends think I'm really sweet and I wouldn't hurt a fly. My acquaintances think I'm kind of stuck up and quiet. My boss thinks I'm insanely cheerful and always happy. My family thinks I'm a rebellious little demon. People from my church think I'm just another nameless girl from that big family. I like to think that I'm funny and cool. I am none of the aforementioned things. (I'm a dragon.)
I don't actually know 15 bloggers, and the bloggers I do know I just tagged for the Authorly Bucket List Tag and I need to give them time to actually do it before tagging them for more things, so for now I'm just going to tag Ashley and Rachel because I'd love to know you guys better and your blogs are both awesome. :)

What's something interesting and unique about you?

  1. Lol! I struggled with #3 for the longest time and completely identify with #5. I shall not be confined by genres! =) Great post, Gemma!

    1. *nods* People cannot put dragons like us in tiny genre boxes. Thanks for commenting!

  2. Lol, I sing all the time too (mostly when nobody's listening, for their benefit more than mine). Except I sort of make up the lyrics? I can create a full-length song off the top of my head about trying to find my other shoe. It's really bad, but that's beside the point.
Also, I can totally relate to #7 as well. Very few people (in fact, pretty much just my immediate family and my best friend) know what I'm actually like (loud and talkative-- when I'm on a roll you can't get a word in). Apparently I seem really shy to most people, and while I do get pretty quiet when I'm around a lot of people, I definitely wouldn't call myself shy. Like, every time somebody looks at me and says "Oh, you're so quiet and shy!" I am silently daring them to come home with me so I can prove them very wrong. Really, I just don't talk around people I'm not too familiar with because I'm a really dumb and awkward person to talk to. xD

    1. I used to make up lyrics, too, but they were so stupid and bad that I stopped. xD
I don't even know what I'm really like, and I'm pretty certain no one else does either. (Except God, obviously.) I'm kind of the same-- I am shy, but I actually taught myself to be so, because I used to talk a lot and say really stupid things, so now I'm afraid to open my mouth for fear something stupid will come out. If I know someone really well, though, and I feel like the environment is private enough, I won't shut up. :P
      Thanks for commenting!

  3. I'm so terrible with lyrics and remember them all! Unless they are from my favorite song or band, I will more likely know the music and the melody. I know what the guitar sounds like and the drum beat. There are songs on the radio I've heard all my life growing up and when I hear it now I recognize the music but realize I've never actually listened to the words. It seems I think way to much for me to slow down enough to listen to the words. :/ I usually have to read lyrics five times over for me to focus on them.

XD That is so funny what everyone thinks about you! It seems that people at church and in the homeschool group (I'm graduated now. . .) think I'm perfect? My mom told me about this time I had gotten in trouble and had to stay home from a homeschool event. So everyone asked where I was and my mom said I had gotten in trouble. And they were like, "You mean, Ashley? Your perfect child?" Then my mom teasingly glared at me, as if I brainwashed them think I was perfect? I have no idea where they get these delusions. But if they were to ask me if I were perfect or say I was in front of me, I would laugh and say, "I"m sorry. Who are you talking about?" (Being a dragon is much better than being perfect, although it is almost the same thing XD)

Aw, thank you! I'm glad you like my blog. Thank you so much for the tag! I will do it, although I do have some other tags on back file. (I love tags, when I run out of blogging ideas I always have a fall back plan of tags.)

Actually, I tagged you for the #WritersLife tag. But now I've realized you might be tired of tags. . . Anyhow, I'd love to read your answers if you decide to do it. Here's the HTML:

    1. I'm really bad with tunes-- unless it's super catchy or I'm singing along, I mess the melody up so bad. I also pay lots of attention to the lyrics so I can apply them to my WIP. :P

I know a lot of people who think my sister(s) are perfect, if a little stuck up. But everyone knows I'm messed up-- lol. At least you apparently were well behaved in public, though. xD Being a dragon is the best thing ever. How I pity those funny little humans...

You're welcome, and your blog is lovely. :) Well, I look forward to reading it, when you get around to it!

And no, I'm not tired of tags! xD I adore tags-- though I do run out of people to tag for them. But who cares? I can still do them. Thanks for tagging me!

I adore comments! Just keep it clean and respectful...please no profanity and while I respect people's opinions and love a good argument, simply bashing my post is obviously not appreciated. :)
